Lately I have been sketching a lot of stationery just for fun. Here is one of my finished concepts. I had a lot of fun working on this one because I love working with quirky type. I hope to keep posting more!  

luv dream flat contest

I entered one of my patterns in the LUV footwear open call for designs contest. I had a lot of fun making this pattern! I created it by painting geometric shapes with acrylic and watercolor, and then by scanning it all into the computer and working some photoshop pattern magic! A few snap shots of life lately. I have been meaning to start making more personal posts, but I usually get sidetracked and just post about work. So get ready folks for some more personality to my blog, along with lots and lots of photos of my sweet german shepherd / corgi Dolly.

I really want to get into making patterns all the time again. In college they were my love and I tried making every assignment focused on them.  I do quite a bit of pattern making in my freelance work but most the time it ends up being stuff I can't show since it's client work. So here it goes, I am going to try and make a couple of patterns a week, and upload them to my society6 shop. It is instant gratification seeing those puppies on all kinds of products!

new painting preview

 I am really trying to get back into painting. It seems like once I graduated from college I forgot how to paint and lost my confidence in it too. Whenever I would start a painting I would become impatient with it, and discard it or, I would scan it in to the computer and try to finish it up in there. So hopefully this is the first of many painting to come this year. I am happy with how this one turned out :)

I realized I haven't worked on a personal project in a very long time - which is pretty sad! While working at one of my favorite coffee shops with my fiance (YES I DID SAY FIANCE CHRIS AND I GOT ENGAGED ABOUT A MONTH AGO!!!) I was doing some major brainstorming and finally had an idea that combined my love of all things nature, and my love for the beautiful state of Minnesota. So here it is, the first in the series - A is for Alpine Bistort. Find out more about this Minnesota wildflower here

calendar + book!

It has been so long since my past post, but wanted to share with you all this calendar and book through WORKMAN that I had the opportunity to be apart of among a bunch of super talented illustrators! I also had the pleasure of designing the cover for the "Think happy, be happy" book. This project was tons of fun and it is so nice to see how it all turned out. Pattern Play

Whew - it has been a very very long time since my last post! Happy belated new year everyone! My year started off with a bang! Which means it was one of the craziest/ exciting work months of my life! I have a few projects in the works that I can't post on my blog just yet, I will be sure to post them once they are out in the world! My January was so crazy that I needed to plan a very last minute vacation to get away from my computer, and the cold minnesota winter. My birthday was also another excuse I used to take a vacation :) So Chris and I headed out to Austin, TX to visit friends, and soak up some sunshine. Having a little break was just what I needed to get focused on a few personal projects that I want to get up and running. Print and pattern is a huge LOVE of mine, and I really haven't had a chance to make patterns this past year, and I really want to change that! I had a day open last week and whipped up all these patterns. It was so great to make something, just to make something. Be on the look out for more patterns, and even a new website! Hopefully in the next upcoming months!

just for fun

It's been busy  per usual in the studio the past month working on a ton of projects. Chris and I found a moment to do some more home decorating - I should really be posting photos of our progress! I always forget to take the before photos :) We painted the wood trim white, got new curtains, and a new couch! The space feels so much more "us"

Here is  a little illo I have been working on just for fun the past week in between projects. I'm trying to get back into the groove of making work again. I have some sketches in the works that I need to turn into finals, so keep on the lookout for those. Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!
